Statement of belief
Statement of belief
As believers, we are exhorted to “grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18); and are being led into all truth by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13). Therefore, the following statement of beliefs provides guidelines for Christ Image Assembly and should not be seen as all truth, already compiled and foreclosed. The Ministry continually opens itself to renewal and deeper understanding of truth in response to the teachings and leading of the Holy Spirit. We therefore believe that:
- The sixty-six canonical books of the Bible as originally written were inspired of God (2Tim 3:16), and without error. It is the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
- There is one God, the Creator and Preserver of all things, infinite in being and perfection. He exists eternally in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- The first man, Adam and Eve were created by God in His own image. Through disobedience, they fell from their sinless state through the temptation by Satan. All humanity was thusplunged into sin and separated from God, and this brought the sentence of eternal death on the human race. From this condition, we can be saved only by the grace of God, through faith based on the finished work of Christ, and by the agency of the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:12-21
- The Son of God, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, was born of the Virgin Mary, fully God and fully human, and is the perfect revelation of the Father and the perfect representative of humanity. To effect salvation, He lived a sinless life, He suffered and died on the cross for all human sin, as the sinner’s substitute, shedding His blood for the remission of sins. He was raised bodily on the third day, and ascended to heaven, standing in for all humanity before the Father. Jesus Christ provides the perfect human response to God. Since he died for all, all died in him, and all will be made alive in him. He shall come again, personally and visibly to consummate the eternal plan of God.
- The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Triune God. He applies to man the work of Christ. By justification and adoption we are given a right standing before God; by regeneration, sanctification, and glorification our nature is renewed. The Holy Spirit continually and constantly works in us to make us conform to the image of Jesus Christ.
- When we have turned to God in penitent faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are accountable to God for living a life separated from sin and characterized by the fruit of the Spirit. It is our responsibility to contribute by word and deed to the universal spread of the Gospel.
- The true Church is composed of all such persons who through personal faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and are united together in the Body of Christ. Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church and all believers are being equipped to minister.Eph 4:11-16
- At the end of the age, the bodies of the dead shall be raised. The righteous shall enter into full possession of eternal bliss in the presence of God, and the wicked shall be condemned to eternal death.
